TOWN OF NANTON WATER RESTRICTION LEVEL 2 LIFTED
As of November 25, 2014, the Level 2 Water Restrictions are being lifted, however residents are strongly encouraged to “Please Refrain from the Drain”. It is important that water conservation remains a priority and that residents continue to do their part. Every little bit of assistance will be key in keeping the waste water treatment plant (WWTP) operating until we are able to build a new one.
Currently, the Town is working with the engineer team to finish the temporary repair on the waste water treatment plant (WWTP). The steel wall was installed successfully, however there are a few issues that need to be fixed. It has also been discovered that the third rotating biological contractor (RBC) has failed. The plant has operated on two RBC’s in the past and will continue to do so. The Town is conducting tests daily to ensure that levels are meeting standards, and for the safety of the environment and town.
Town Council and administration are working diligently to have a permanent solution in place as quickly as possible. They will be conducting a thorough review of the current technologies for a new waste water treatment plant on December 8th and 9th. A Public Meeting will be held in January to update residents on future plans.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation in the matter. If you have further questions or concerns, please contact the Town at 403-646-2029 or visit nanton.ca.
