Town of Nanton Water Restriction Level 1 – Lifted
The Town of Nanton is pleased to announce the Water Restriction – Level 1 has been lifted for the town as of 8 AM today. Public Works Manager, Darren Donovan, gave Administration the okay and says, “The reservoir has successfully been filled for the duration of the winter months.”
The water restriction was put in effect in June, due to flood damage at the water pump station. With the inability to fill the reservoir and low water levels, a restriction was required. However, with the aid of Alberta Environment, a super-pump was installed to accelerate the process of filling the reservoir to standard levels.
Residents can resume regular water usage by following the watering schedule according to Bylaw 1202/09. For odd house numbers, Thursdays and Sundays. Even house numbers, Wednesdays and Saturdays between 6 – 9 AM and 7 – 10 PM. Bulk water sales will recommence today.
The Town of Nanton Water Conservation Bylaw was created to help regulate the use of water and encourage water conservation strategies. Curbing water use during the summer months will help to alleviate the demand placed on the water system and reduce the impact on the water supply.
The Town is encouraging all residents and businesses to be conscious of water usage by following the Water Conservation bylaw and best practices.
