The Town is currently trying to trace the cause of a number of leaks in the municipal water distribution system that result in significant loss. Our local soils are not always conducive to slow main or service line leaks surfacing. Older buried infrastructure is sometimes not as it was mapped. While acoustic detection, step pressure testing and other methods all help (and are used), local knowledge and observations - in some cases going back years - would aid this effort. Even if you feel you have told past managers or other agents of the Town your story before without resolution, we'd like to hear it again in order to identify common, localized issues that justify investigation. A leaking 1/2" service line can discharge over a litre of water per second. Every repair to broken mains and service lines helps hold the line in terms of water treatment costs and assists with reservoir conservation and storage during critical summer and winter months.
