[ARCHIVED] Yard Waste Area (19th Avenue)

illegal dump

The Yard Waste area will return to being open 7 days per week, 8-4pm from tomorrow (Tuesday July 19th).  Security monitoring with online uplink of data has been installed following an increase in illegal dumping.  This facility is operated on a trust basis with the community as running a staffed facility would be prohibitively expensive for the Town and rate payers.  We encourage everyone who wants this service to continue to discourage illegal dumping.

Please contact bylaw@nanton.ca if you have any information about the specific pictured debris  - an enforcement file is being opened.  We thank those who submitted information.  Additional to dumping being illegal, a nuisance upon any Town property carries an initial fine of $500, which can increase to $5,000 after repeat offences.  The Town’s yard waste area on 19th Avenue is open for grass clippings, branches up to a 5cm diameter and leaves or other natural debris.  Construction and other types of waste must be taken directly to the Foothills Regional Landfill if not part of the regular residential waste collection.
