[ARCHIVED] Westview reports of unusual sump activity

water flushing

The Town has been made aware of increased residential sump pump activity in the last few days and is investigating.  Anyone experiencing this is asked to help the Operations department by reporting the issue via the online form on the link here.

As no surface water has appeared, it is a significant challenge to determine if (and where) a water line is leaking and confirming that it's definitely not groundwater movement. We're taking the precautionary approach and are assuming it is likely a water line leak, but diagnosis will likely involve test hole drilling in the coming days to try and locate the source of the problem.  All home owners are encouraged to check their sumps and make sure their pumps are in working order irrespective of what the cause might be.  Above all, if you have not already done so, report NEW unusual activity to the Town with our thanks - more reports could help us locate the source of the problem sooner.  We may ask to test your sump water for chlorine residuals or undertake a pressure test.

If you see unusual pooling of surface water anywhere in Westview, similarly please contact us directly.
