People with mobility aids need full access to the sidewalk and back lanes should be sufficiently clear for vehicular traffic and RVs to navigate safely. After the summer we’ve had, it’s important to remember that certain landscaping can encroach into sidewalks and lanes, partially impeding access or scraping the sides of vehicles. Those kinds of encroachments are violations under the Town’s Community Bylaw. Please assess the front and rear of your property and determine if you need to trim or cut back any vegetation ahead of Fall and Winter, taking the necessary action. We are seeing a seasonal increase in complaints in this area of bylaw enforcement but consider remedial enforcement a last resort for vegetation encroachments. Please think of your neighbours and pedestrians in general, taking precautionary action annually. Yard waste from trimming can be deposited at no charge at the Town’s facility on 19th Avenue.
