Notice to the town of Nanton residents.
In order to fix 2 leaking valves in the main water lines of 2 separate streets, we will have to shut down the water service to some residents for part of the day.
We have endeavored to keep this to a minimum number of houses by inserting another valve to replace a seized valve on Friday.
The areas affected will be on 21st street between 23 and 24 Avenues and 20th street between 23 and 26 Avenues. The anticipated shut-off will not occur before 9:00 am on Monday. We hope to have the water flowing again before 5:00 pm. We also have pre-flushed this area in the last week or two to minimize any stirring up of sediment in the lines. We will be flushing the lines again after the repairs and it is recommended that once the water pressure is on wait until we finish flushing and sampling of the lines and some houses. It would be advised after this for the residents to flush their houses by using a cold water tap for a while (20 minutes) before using the water for domestic purposes. The town will be doing testing for turbidity and chlorine levels on site as well as sending samples into the lab for other tests as is required by Alberta Environment and Parks. We apologize for any inconvenience and will keep this to as short a time as we are able.
