Sewer Blockages are Preventable - We need your help!

do not flush

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Backups to the sewer mains, residences, and at the sewage plant have cost the Town thousands of dollars in the last two weeks (cost of contractors, maintenance, and equipment failures from the backups)

The reason? Flushing things that should not be flushed. Like Face Masks. And although they are called flushable, Flushable Wipes need to go in the garbage.

Also? FOG - Fats, Oil and Grease. Please do not put this down the toilet or the drain.

So to repeat please do not flush:

  • Face Masks
  • Flushable Wipes
  • FOG - Fats, Oils & Grease (or put it down the drain)

The only thing that should go and is allowed to go into a toilet or to be flushed aside from human waste is TOILET paper. All else causes problems and increased costs to repair and maintain our Wastewater (Sewage) collection and treatment system.

Fats oil and grease should be collected, in cans or jars and disposed of in the garbage and not down the sink.

While you may not think that this directly affects you, the cost of this passes onto you, the resident. Rising costs are passed on in utility bills and/or taxes.

Also, causing a backup can affect a whole block. Just talk to someone who has experienced a raw sewage back-up in their residence and see that it is worth being more careful in the use of the town's sewer system.
