This message is to advise you that a level one event has been declared due to high winds.
As of 2 p.m. today, Jan. 13, we declared a Level 1 event due to outages in the southern part of our service territory resulting from a severe wind storm that began this morning. Currently, we have approximately 860 customers without power, with most of these located south and east of Lethbridge. Two of these are located in the southwest in the Pincher Creek area, impacting approximately 250 customers, most of which are in or near Coleman. FortisAlberta Crews from other areas have been mobilized as needed to assist with power restoration.
The numbers have fluctuated throughout the day with one larger transmission outage affecting customers in the Milk River/Warner area earlier today (this was restored at approximately 2 p.m.)
Severe wind conditions are expected to taper off by the end of the day. At this point, it is expected that we will be able to restore all customers by this evening and that we won’t have customers off overnight.
The outage map below can be accessed from FortisAlberta’s website https://service.fortisalberta.com/. The online map version is continually updated with current information. Zooming in will highlight the specific impacted areas and hovering over the coloured dots will provide the most current details including restoration times.
