Concerning reports have reached us of unsafe behaviour on the surface of the Westview Pond. Apart from it being unlikely that the ice is formed sufficiently to hold a lot of people and dogs in this mild weather, stormwater movement and muskrat activity make walking on the ice an activity that is just as unwise in colder weather without a full thickness inspection by municipal staff. The Town has signs posted in the vicinity indicating that this activity is not only not permitted, but subject to regulatory bylaw (potential ticket penalties of $250).
If concerned about something you’re seeing, call 1-403-625-2248,
If it's an emergency when you should call 911 immediately. Please consider your actions and personal safety carefully before walking out onto any frozen surface.
