Firefighters’ National Memorial Day – Sunday, September 13, 2020
As a tribute to the firefighters who risk their lives to keep Canadians safe, the second Sunday in September of each year is designated as Firefighters’ National Memorial Day.
On Sunday, September 13, 2020, Federal, Provincial and Municipal flags are half-masted in memory of firefighters who have fallen in the line of duty
In addition to the Government of Canada, Provinces and Municipalities recognize the dangers firefighters often face when carrying out their duties, and the ultimate sacrifice of firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty.
Firefighters’ National Memorial Day commemorates the courage, the selflessness, and the unwavering commitment of these firefighters to serve our communities.
The Town of Nanton is honoured to commemorate not only its own Fire Department, but those of neighbouring communities that assist us with mutual aid. Our most sincere appreciation is extended to these people and their families.
Note - The Town will be lowering the flags to half-mast Friday and raising them on Monday.
