[ARCHIVED] Nanton VIC (Visitor Information Centre) Opening Saturday!

VIC 2020

The Nanton VIC (Visitor Information Centre) opens this Saturday and plans, with the assistance of volunteers, to open 10-4 daily until October 12th.

 Brochures

In adhering to AHS guidelines and Travel Alberta recommendations to keep the contact of surfaces to a minimum, they will not keep brochures throughout the site as in years past but will have samples placed under Plexi, and the brochures behind the counter for the travel counsellors to give out as requested.

In the picture is our travel counsellor on the left, Danica who will be working at the VIC until mid-August along with Eleanor on the right. Danica will be contacting businesses and/or dropping by to get operating hours and any other details for the VIC.

Businesses are also more than welcome to drop by and drop off promotional material and any updates for us to provide to tourists or locals. The VIC can only help promote your business if it has updated information throughout the summer.

The VIC has a couple other initiatives happening this summer.

The Nanton Storytelling Project

One is called the Nanton Storytelling Project. To capture people’s stories, they’ve created a new YouTube channel called Visit Nanton on which interviews with Nantonites and travellers will be posted. There are so many cool and interesting stories and history in the area. With the possibility of less tourist traffic coming through (at least internationally), they thought it would be a great time to record some of these. The VIC staff may be wandering town talking to businesses and individuals to record their stories, but please also feel free to drop by the Schoolhouse to do it where they’re setting up a staging area in the Schoolhouse.

VIC Nanton Photo Opp Stop

The second initiative is the Nanton Photo Opp Stop:

Last week, an RFP was posted for creating a photo op sign that the VIC can install outside the Schoolhouse as one way to attract people off the highway. This way, it will create a visually appealing social media engagement opportunity to promote Nanton get people out of their cars. The deadline for quotes is next Tuesday (June 30th). The Chamber and the VIC look forward to receiving some creative proposals.

In the meantime contact them at info@nantonchamber.com, and follow them on:
