[ARCHIVED] Playgrounds Still Closed over May Long Weekend

playgrounds still closed over may long

Our playgrounds remain closed for the time being.

Regional Directors of Emergency Management met on May 11th with some school district representatives and discussed this matter among others. While there is no directive to close playgrounds it appears to remain a recommendation or guideline from senior government/ AHS.

An uncoordinated opening of parks and playgrounds in our local area is not favoured as it will place unfair pressures on neighbouring communities and neighbourhoods.

There will be a further regional discussion on the topic May 20th.

Our community has so far done incredibly well in avoiding a Covid19 outbreak when just next door to one of the biggest clusters of the virus in the Province. In that spirit, we do not want to prematurely lift certain restrictions that help keep risk low. We hope to have better news in the weeks ahead.
