[ARCHIVED] Blue Bristles on Roads

Blue Bristles

There have been reports of quite a few blue plastic brush bristles below all the snow and ice melt. They are worse this year due to the type of winter we have had.

The complaints have been received and acknowledged as the Town's equipment does use this type of bristle. It is also used by other contractors in the area.

Our street sweeper will clear most of the leftover debris in the streets during spring cleaning. The rest of the bristles should go down the storm drain catch basins which are cleaned every year.

While not desirable this is a byproduct of snow removal. We have ensured that our equipment is in safe working order by checking it for potential repairs and maintenance.

Keeping safety in mind - if members of the public choose to collect and dispose of the bristles themselves they are advised to wear protective gloves.
