Alberta and other emergency management organizations across Canada are conducting a test of the emergency public alerting system on Nov. 28 at 1:55 p.m. local time. The test, like the one on May 9, will send an alert message via radio, TV, cell phones, social media, the Alberta Emergency Alert mobile app and other distribution methods.
This system allows governments to deliver critical and potentially life-saving alerts to Albertans through compatible cell phones. You may hear the emergency tone and see a message similar to this on your phone at that time:
“Alberta Emergency Alert - Test Alert - The Alberta Emergency Management Agency has issued a Province Wide Test Alert on November 28, 1:55 PM. This is only a TEST. If this had been an actual emergency or threat, you would receive instructions that would assist you to protect you and your family. If you received this message, visit www.albertaemergencyalert.ca/mobile for more information.”
Governments and their partners test alerting systems to ensure they will perform as they should during emergencies and to make improvements.
Please visit www.albertaemergencyalert.ca or www.alertready.ca for more information. Please advise your staff and others as appropriate.
